This was the first ever book written about the Seven Days. Dowdey does a good job telling the tale but the maps are lacking in this one. I prefer Burton's new book over this one any day of the week. For some reason though, the Park Rangers at Richmond National Battlefield Park seem to favor Stephen Sears' book on the whole Peninsula Campaign for its Seven Days part rather than either of these books. 380 pp.
