In my recent web wanderings searching for Siege of Petersburg material, I came across a fantastic resource on Wisconsin Civil War military units at the Wisconsin Historical Society web site. The ten volume “Quiner Scarpbooks” contain letters from Wisconsin soldiers which were printed in newspapers during the war. The Wisconsin Historical Society allows you to easily look for information by given units. Pages are viewable on the web site, or you can download each volume in its entirety as a PDF. I’ve chosen to do the latter. I’ve already found several interesting letters from Petersburg, and plan to transcribe all I find at The Siege of Petersburg Online. Go check them out. I’ve provided links to the individual volumes below to get you started.
