Editor’s Note: Please welcome Matt Hyson, one of a number of new amateur Civil War bloggers here at TOCWOC. Matt and the rest of the group are here to bring some fresh new perspectives to TOCWOC, a blog I founded back in late 2006. My goal is to bring you the reader fresh content from a variety of perspectives five days a week. I look forward to what Matt and the others will bring to the table.
Hi everyone! My name is Matt and I am honored to become a new member of the TOCWOC team. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for the Civil War with everyone. A native of the Old Line State, I spend a lot of time at nearby Civil War sites like Gettysburg, Antietam, and the Monocacy. I have been a student of the Civil War for as long as I can remember and have a wide range of interests regarding the war. These interests include the eastern theatre battles, especially Gettysburg and Antietam, the trials and tribulations of the common soldier, and Civil War books and movies amongst other topics. I have also begun to venture into the relic hobby since graduating from college, and this summer will mark the beginning of my reenacting career. I hope to fill my space here by discussing the numerous personalities of the war, first-hand accounts of battles and camp life, and Civil War events to name a few. I am looking forward to my time here and hope to share some interesting perspectives and opinions along the way.
