The recent Civil War Bloggers Top 10 Gettysburg Books list turned out well, so well that I immediately contacted the members of the Shiloh Discussion Group to see if they would join me in creating another combined list, this time of the Top 7 Shiloh books, which will appear this August at TOCWOC on a permanent page designed for this event. SDG members have been posting their lists of the Top 7 Shiloh books over the last month with a deadline of August 1. The following the combined Shiloh Discussion Group’s list of the Top 7 Shiloh Books.
The rankings below take the combined Top 7 Shiloh books lists of all SDG members posted prior to August 1, 2009. A first place vote is worth seven points, while a seventh place vote is worth one point. Some members listed less than seven books. In those cases a first place vote is still worth seven points, with each successive vote being worth one less point. In other cases voters did not have a specific order. Each book on those lists will be worth 4 points (7+6+5+4+3+2+1=28 total points awarded per list divided by 7 books in the list = 4 points per book).
I’d like to take a moment to thank all of the members of the Shiloh Discussion Group who participated in this event. The end result is a large list of Shiloh books and a great place to go for those looking to get into the study of this fascinating event.
