Paradox Interactive and Mad Minute Games have released two bonus scenarios focusing on the Battle of Chantilly for their new Civil War computer game, Take Command Second Manassas. The following press release comes from Chris Abele in the Wargamer news area:
Just weeks after its release, Mad Minute Games and Paradox Interactive have released two brand new bonus scenarios for Take Command: 2nd Manassas (microsite). These new bonus scenarios can be downloaded from the start menu of the game itself, and feature two brand new battles presented from the perspective of two of the most famous generals in the war.
“Cannon and Thunder” – Reno’s Corps. Historically, the Battle of Chantilly was fought as a series of disconnected attacks by the Union forces. In this scenario, you play as Major General Jesse L. Reno. You will have command of all of the historically accurate Union forces. It is your choice to follow history or your own ideas of how it ought to have been done.
“Meeting at Ox Hill” – Jackson’s Corps. This is a speculative scenario assuming that Major General Pope had acted on the intelligence that Jackson and Longstreet were separated. If General Pope had tried for a knockout blow against Jackson’s Corps, this is what might have happened. You command as Major General Thomas J. Jackson against all the forces that the Union can scrape up to attack your position.
Take Command: 2nd Manassas is a 3D tactical wargame which features the 1862 battle in Northern Virginia recreated with exacting historical detail, including the officers, terrain, battle tactics, and scenarios. More information on the game is available from MadMinute Games’ web site or The Wargamer’s dedicated microsite.
