One thing I completely forgot about when reading Struggle for the Shenandoah: Essays on the 1864 Valley Campaign (edited by Gary Gallagher) was the usual “Bibliographic Note” at the end of each volume. In these areas, Gallagher and his fellow essayists choose the books most pertinent to the campaign they have just covered. These lists make great starting points for the campaigns they cover, and I hope to make them available (with links to www.amazon.com and other sites) in periodic blog entries. If anyone has any books or magazine articles that can be added to this list, feel free to do so via the comments link. I hope to have some comments on the last essay in the book and also a full book review up some time this weekend.
