The Exorcist

out of 10

William Friedkin

Ellen Burstyn
Max von Sydow
Jason Miller

There is not much that can be said about this movie that hasn't already been said. The Exorcist is known by many as the scariest movie of all time. I'm not going to go into some lame-brained thesis about why I believe this to be true. Enough people have repeated it and believe it for me to believe it as well. Before you call me a Lemming, consider I have watched many horror films and would be hard pressed to name any which exceed this one in scares. Simply put, this is the type of movie a person starts their horror collection with. It's that good. Get it and be happy you did. I think everyone should be required by law to see this film at least once. For those two of you who haven't ever heard of this movie, I'll run down the basic plot. Little girl starts growing sick. Pretty soon she's uttering foul language (sometimes in languages other than English!), spinning her head like a top, and masturbating with a crucifix! It becomes apparent to her mother that the little girl is possessed by a demon, and two priests are called in to save the day.
