Sleepy Hollow

I loved this movie. I came close to giving this a 10, but it didn't have that total uniqueness to propel it to that lofty rating. Johnny Depp stars as a reworked Ichabod Crane. No longer a schoolteacher as in the classic Disney Animated Short from the 1940's, Crane is now a policeman in New York City whose newfangled devices and ideas for solving crimes do not sit well with the authorities there. After his latest ideas, a judge (a cool cameo by Christopher Lee) orders Crane to the backwoods village of Sleepy Hollow to solve a case involving several murders purportedly committed by a headless horseman. Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors. I don't know of anyone whose movies can put me in the Halloween mood like Burton's can. This is a definite buy and not a rental. I'm extremely glad I picked this one up.
