Comments:

The original Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1956 is one of my favorite movies, and is included in my personal top 20 of all time. This is classic sci-fi/horror at its very best. Kevin McCarthy stars as a doctor in a small California town who starts to see his patients exhibiting a weird form of paranoia. They all claim that their family members aren't really their family members, and the good Doctor starts to wonder what is really going on. This movie keeps you feeling uneasy almost from the very beginning, when the Doctor starts to relate the entire movie in an extended flashback. Some have claimed that this movie exhibits symbolism protesting the McCarthy-era witch hunts of suspected Communists, but both the writer of the original book and Kevin McCarthy in an interview dispute that. The bottom line is that this movie is a classic right up there with Dracula (1931), Night of the Living Dead (1968), and others. Buy it. You will almost definitely like it. The two remakes from 1978 and the early 1990's aren't bad either.
