Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales of the Slayer, Vol. 2

Comments:

This is the second volume in the "Tales of the Slayer" series of books. In them, Slayers other than the famous Buffy are detailed in short stories and novellas. This second collection was pretty good in my opinion. Some of the stories included Slayers from feudal Japan, medieval France, the American Civil War, the Victorian London of Jack the Ripper, and in my favorite story, even as a Pirate in the Caribbean! Since I am a big Civil War buff, I got to see two of my favorite genres combined in the story about a Slayer posing as a Union Army aide to General William Tecumseh Sherman after the Atlanta Campaign of 1864. While the writer seemed to do most of her homework on this story, I did have a few minor quibbles. They were nothing major, though, and I enjoyed that story almost as much as the Pirate one. These books are classified as "Young Adult", but I've read and enjoyed the first two at 26 years of age. They are excellent books for anyone who enjoyed the TV show. 368 pp.
