by John Keel

The Complete Guide to Mysterious Beings

Comments:

John Keel is perhaps best known for being the author of The Mothman Prophecies, a book about strange events happening to the town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia in the late 1960's. Here, in a vein similar to Charles Fort but writing in a less dry style, Keel catalogues all of the sightings and reports of strange creatures such as werewolves, bigfoot, swamp creatures, aliens, devils, etc. This is definitely an interesting book, and should appeal to fans of shows like the X-Files (I happen to be a major fan of that show). Keel, like Fort, chooses not to speculate on the origins of these phenomena. However, unlike Fort, it is clear that Keel believes in the supernatural, and makes his feelings known. This book will appeal to the naturally curious, and I would think most people could garner some enjoyment out of it. 338 pp.
